During her mundane life at the covenant in Santa Teresa, Marina found solace in a cave in the nearby mountains. Here she would spend time alone and paint pictures of the things she saw in her dreams, including the view from her bedroom window on Lorien and John Smith, whom she believed to be Number Four.
She also stored non-perishable food in case she needed to escape more permanently from the Mogadorians.
Marina soon abandoned her cave when she discovered footprints leading into it, petrified that the Mogadorians had found her, and sprinted back to the convent. The footprints were later revealed to belong to Crayton.
